About Watershed
Watershed is the enterprise sustainability platform. Companies like Airbnb, Carlyle Group, FedEx, Visa, and Dr. Martens use Watershed to manage climate and ESG data, produce audit-ready metrics for voluntary and regulatory reporting including CSRD, and drive real decarbonization. We are looking for team members who love product-building, want to work hard at a mission-oriented startup, and will collaborate with us in shaping the culture of a growing team.
We have offices in San Francisco, New York, Denver, London, Paris, Berlin, Sydney, Mexico City, and remote team members across the US and Europe. We hope that you'll be interested in joining us!
The role
The Data Specialist team works directly with our customers to help them ingest their raw business data into the Watershed platform in order to produce high quality, accurate measurements, reports, and decarbonization plans. The team reviews raw data sent by our customers, advises customers on solutions for data quality issues, transforms the data to fit Watershed templates, documents the transformations, and uploads the transformed data to the Watershed platform. The team prides itself on delivering high-quality professional services and producing error-free, timely work.
As our Data Specialist Manager, you will lead a professional services team that supports some of the world’s largest and most influential companies to accelerate their sustainability programs and extract value out of the Watershed platform. You will uphold quality standards, drive standardization, and coach the team for growth. You will drive strategic initiatives that level-up the quality and efficiency of an already high-performing team – including being at the leading edge of integrating AI into the team’s workflow.
We are looking for an experienced, operationally-minded, and detail-oriented manager to develop and scale our Data Specialist team in Mexico City. You will be an early leader in our Mexico City office – laying the foundations for our services teams in the region.
You will:
Manage and mentor a professional services team consisting of 9 client-facing Data Specialists.
Ensure the team delivers top quality services to Watershed’s customers, bringing rigor, expertise, and speed to every data transformation and customer interaction.
Drive day-to-day team operations, helping the team prioritize work, manage escalations, and remove blockers.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data to inform decisions and integrating the latest innovations in AI tooling in order to raise the quality and efficiency of our services.
Engage in capacity planning and staffing, ensuring we can meet customer demand and developing long-term plans for team growth and development
Be an early leader in our Mexico City office. You will exemplify our operating principles, set the standard for high-quality services delivery, and build cultural norms.
You might be a fit if you:
Have 8+ years of professional experience, including 3+ years of demonstrated success managing professional services teams of 6+ people, typically in a consulting environment or within B2B SaaS.
Are skilled at hiring, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
Are customer-obsessed. You set a high quality bar for professional services and help your team reach it.
Are a strong operator. You use data to make decisions, dig into the details, and build repeatable systems.
Thrive in high-growth, fast-pace environments. You bring an ownership mentality, intellectual curiosity, and a bias to action to everything you do.
Have demonstrated excellence in error-free data manipulation using Excel, SQL, or Python.
Have experience leveraging AI to drive efficiency and amplify customer impact.
Are an exceptional written and verbal communicator. You are able to clearly articulate a vision, inspire confidence within your team, and influence cross-functional peers.
Must be willing to work from an office 4 days per week (except for remote roles)
Watershed has hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City and satellite offices in Denver, Sydney, Paris, and Berlin. Where we have offices, employees are expected to be in office for 4 days per week. Certain jobs are open to being remote and will be specifically noted on the jobs page and in the job description if so.
What’s the interview process like?
It starts the same for every candidate: getting to know the team members through 1 to 2 conversations about Watershed, your experience, and your interests. Next steps can vary by role, but usual next steps are a skill or experience interview (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, a portfolio review for a designer, deeper experience call for other roles) which leads to a virtual or in person interview panel. We prioritize transparency and lack of surprise throughout the process.
What if I need accommodations for my interview?
At Watershed, we are dedicated to ensuring an inclusive recruitment process. We provide reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities, long-term conditions, mental health needs, religious observances, neurodivergence, or pregnancy-related support requirements. If you need assistance during your process, please contact your recruiter.
