In aggregate, Watershed customers manage more than the annual emissions of France.
Watershed’s global database spans every region and multiple years of climate data.
Our 2030 goal is to reduce or remove 1% of annual global emissions.
We got started in 2019 because we believed that enabling companies to decarbonize was the most effective path to solving climate change.
Our mission is to accelerate the climate economy, and our 2030 goal is to work with our customers to reduce or remove 500 megatonnes of CO2 equivalent—approximately 1% of annual global emissions.
Today, Watershed is a team of nearly 300 people, with offices in San Francisco, Calif., New York, NY, and London, UK. Our customers span every region and industry and include leading companies like General Mills, Suncorp, Medline, BBVA, Paramount, Spotify, Klarna, four of the top six US banks, and six of the top 10 private equity firms. We’ve helped financial institutions like Carlyle decarbonize their portfolios, brands like Coyuchi and YETI make strategic decisions about materials and suppliers, and professional services companies like Aon meet their net zero goals faster.
The Watershed platform includes the leading climate database for granular emissions measurement, the first dedicated software tools for sustainability reporting and supply chain engagement, and an industry-leading Marketplace with pioneering carbon removal and clean power projects. Expertise from our network of partners, customers, and advisors that include leading climate scientists and policy experts, is embedded in every aspect of the Watershed platform.
Watershed’s advisors and investors include Sequoia Capital, Kleiner Perkins, Greenoaks, Mark Carney, Christiana Figueres, and Al Gore. Watershed announced a Series C investment round in February 2024.
Our customers are the cornerstone of our mission, and we keep them front and center in every decision we make. Empowering our customers to reach their decarbonization goals is our true north star.
Time is precious—particularly in the climate crisis—and good prioritization unlocks the best work. Everyone at Watershed is encouraged to make hard decisions that keep us focused on our mission.
We can only succeed in a company where a diverse group of hard-working people feel included, succeed, and lead. We design our recruiting process, culture, and company to provide opportunities to people of all backgrounds, demographics, life experiences, and beliefs.
We care deeply about our mission, our work, and each other. We’re here to do the best work of our careers with other hard-working people, to achieve a bold outcome—and have some fun along the way.
The Watershed team has chosen to try and help with one of humanity’s biggest challenges—and we bring that same level of ownership to day-to-day work. Don't expect others to fix something that’s broken; step up and do something about it.
