Our Mission

Accelerate the climate economy

Over the next 25 years, every part of our economy will transform to run on zero carbon. This will be the greatest economic transition of our lifetimes, reaching every company in every sector in every geography. We’re grounded optimists: We believe this transformation will solve climate change. And it’ll be the largest reallocation of capital of our time. Companies will win or lose based on how effectively they navigate this new climate economy.

We’ve built the world’s first enterprise sustainability platform to help companies seize this moment.

Watershed delivers granular, audit-ready sustainability data that companies can disclose with confidence—and use to drive real decarbonization. We’re closing the loop between climate data and climate action and powering best-in-class sustainability programs at the world’s leading companies.

About Watershed

In the San Francisco office

We got started in 2019 because we believed that enabling companies to decarbonize was the most effective path to solving climate change.

Our mission is to accelerate the climate economy, and our 2030 goal is to work with our customers to reduce or remove 500 megatonnes of CO2 equivalent—approximately 1% of annual global emissions.

Operating Principles

This set of principles guides how we work, prioritize, and make decisions at Watershed. They are a living set of values that evolve alongside the company over time.

01

Be customer-obsessed

Our customers are the cornerstone of our mission, and we keep them front and center in every decision we make. Empowering our customers to reach their decarbonization goals is our true north star.

02

Stack rank and drop

Time is precious—particularly in the climate crisis—and good prioritization unlocks the best work. Everyone at Watershed is encouraged to make hard decisions that keep us focused on our mission.

03

Cultivate diversity & inclusion

We can only succeed in a company where a diverse group of hard-working people feel included, succeed, and lead. We design our recruiting process, culture, and company to provide opportunities to people of all backgrounds, demographics, life experiences, and beliefs.

04

Bring intensity & care

We care deeply about our mission, our work, and each other. We’re here to do the best work of our careers with other hard-working people, to achieve a bold outcome—and have some fun along the way.

05

Take ownership

The Watershed team has chosen to try and help with one of humanity’s biggest challenges—and we bring that same level of ownership to day-to-day work. Don't expect others to fix something that’s broken; step up and do something about it.
