Watershed named as PCAF’s first accredited partner

The Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) announced this week its new partner program, and named Watershed as its first accredited provider.

PCAF—which has now grown to over 430 financial institutions, representing over $90 trillion of assets—has set the global standard for measuring and disclosing financed emissions. As an accredited partner, Watershed will work closely with PCAF to leverage its expertise, elevate the quality of emissions disclosures, and promote the standardization of the accounting of financed emissions. As part of this, Watershed customers who are PCAF signatories will now have access to PCAF’s full database of emissions factors, along with tailored technical support.

The partner program was unveiled by the PCAF Secretariat at the start of Climate Week NYC. “We are delighted to formalize our partnership with PCAF,” said Taylor Francis, co-founder of Watershed. “The work PCAF has done has rapidly accelerated the financial sector’s efforts to track and reduce carbon emissions. Watershed was built based on these standards. This partnership allows us to build on that foundation, supporting our customers and helping amplify PCAF’s expertise.”

Chris Snyder, North America lead for PCAF, said: “As the number of financial institutions committing to use the PCAF Standard to measure and disclose the emissions associated with their financial activity increases, the need to collaborate with the businesses supporting these efforts is critical. We are pleased to partner with Watershed, a leading enterprise sustainability platform, as the first PCAF-accredited provider and look forward to working closely together.”
