CDP 2025 is now available in Watershed

Close up of forests and water in CDP 2025

As we head into CDP season, we're pleased to share that CDP 2025 is now available inside Watershed. For this year's report, we've added modules for forests and water in addition to climate. You can use project management tools to assign questions to your teammates, attach notes, and more. Tap into Watershed expertise with question-by-question guidance, peer benchmarks for climate, and reusable answers for climate if you reported publicly last year. Like last year, you'll be able to submit directly to CDP via API.

What's new in your CDP report builder this year

We've added new functionality and modules to your CDP report for the 2025 season and made enhancements throughout to help you report more efficiently while improving rigor and transparency. You'll continue to have access to benchmarks and scoring guidance right in the report builder and, like last year, you'll be able to sync answers directly to your CDP portal when it's time to submit.

Forest and water modules
In addition to the modules you found in your 2024 report builder, Watershed has added forests and water to the collection.

Reusable climate answers
If you reported publicly to CDP last year, we will automatically display your 2024 answers in the peer benchmarks sidebar, making it easy for you to save time in this year's report.

Project management and authoring tools
You can assign questions to your teammates, filter the question table by assignees or module, and add notes or attachments to each question in your report. In addition, we've introduced rich-text editing within the report builder.

Improvements to the API
By the end of July, we'll be rolling out improvements to the API which enables you to directly sync your answers to your CDP portal.

What to expect for CDP 2025

Recently we held a conversation with CDP’s Anna Hawkins about what to expect from this year’s report. Anna underscored some trends from prior years on what separates high scoring companies from those in the middle of the pack and shared what to expect from CDP in 2025.

The good news is that the core questionnaire doesn’t have any dramatic changes in focus for 2025. Instead CDP has been making investments on the technical side to make the process of submitting for each year’s report easier. You can view the full conversation with CDP on preparing for CDP 2025 on-demand here.

Companies are now identifying $5 trillion in climate opportunities, and this is more than double what they reported only five years ago.  So to us, that reads as disclosure is working.

Anna Hawkins, Strategic Growth Manager of Disclosure at CDP

How long does it take to submit to CDP?

Preparing a CDP submission can take anywhere from 1-4 months, depending on the nature of your business, your existing data collection practices, and whether you’ve completed a CDP submission in the past. We’ve built Watershed’s CDP report to help streamline that process including auto-populating your footprint and energy data into relevant questions, surfacing public answers from your peers for comparison and removing copy-and-paste manual work through the direct sync to the CDP. Customers have told us they’ve cut their reporting time in half using Watershed for CDP.

Coupa, a cloud-based business spend management platform with 20+ global offices told us they managed to cut their CDP reporting time in half using Watershed the first time they used it on 2023.

Without Watershed, CDP is very time-consuming. I love that Watershed populates our data from the platform into CDP responses. Previously, I would have had to manage several spreadsheets and offline calculations.

Kellie McKelvey, Director of Sustainability at Coupa explained.

CDP selected Watershed for their own reporting

Last year, we were honored when CDP selected Watershed as the platform it uses to run its own measurement and disclosures. 2024 was CDP’s first reporting year using Watershed.

"Sustainability progress relies on robust data. Watershed's measurement process was a critical factor in our decision to use it for our own reporting."

Daniel Turner, Director of Reporting and Operations at CDP.

Through close collaboration with internal stakeholders and efficient onboarding, the CDP team implemented the platform in little more than six weeks, enabling them to consolidate data from various global sources into a single, actionable view and to participate in their initial public CDP disclosure. You can read more about CDP's first year using Watershed here.

We are grateful for CDP's trust in Watershed and for their continued role as a crucial standard-bearer in climate disclosure. To all our customers, whether you are reporting for the first time to CDP or have made it a key part of your strategy each year, we wish you the best for 2025's report and are here to support you as you need it.
